I'm not yet counting the minutes to 8 AM on Thursday (hours = 50 is close enough), but I AM wondering what awaits me. I've gone from imagining that I will put my right foot to the floor and walk away, to assuming that I will be incredibly unsteady and still need a crutch or other mobility aid at all times. I suppose reality will be somewhere in-between - and depending on how pessimistic I am at any given moment, it's either further or closer to the first situation.
While I've been concerned with the "what" Jack has been exploring the "how", even to the point of a series of experimental situations. First he measured the current discrepancy between the heels of my right and left feet - at least 4.5 inches.
Then, assuming that my new boot will at first have heel wedges that mirror this amount, he considered what I need to wear on my left foot to bring it into alignment.
My current highest heels are insufficient
And my orthopedic sneakers with a couple of heel wedges may be stable, but they're still too low.
Perhaps one, or even two wooden blocks would help.
Looks like a platform shoe to me!
